AUC moves forward on multiple efficiency improvements as progress encouraged by government

Following an encour​aging letter​ from Associate Minister of Natural Gas and Electricity Dale Nally​, the Alberta Utilities Commission is moving forward with a series of initiatives to improve the efficiency of its processes and procedures, and reduce regulatory burden. This reflects stakeholder priorities, supports the Alberta government’s goal of reducing regulatory burden, and supports government expectations the AUC continue to improve the efficiency and timeliness of AUC proceedings.​​

Reducing regulatory burden: checklist applications for certain abbreviated needs identification document applications​​​​

The Alberta Utilities Commission is expanding a checklist application pilot project for low-risk electric transmission and gas utility pipeline applications​ to include abbreviated needs identification document applications.

This addition further aims ​to reduce regulatory burden and maintain the effectiveness and credibility of the regulatory system​.

​​​Alberta Utilities Commission holiday office closure

The Alberta Utilities Commission offices will be closed for the holidays from December 25, 2020 through​ January 1, 2021. We will recommence regular operation​s on Monday, January 4, 2021.​

The eFiling System will be available during the holidays and applications and files can be uploaded and accessed during this time.​​​
