The Alberta Utilities Commission is currently reviewing an application for a 20.1-megawatt solar power plant east of Strathmore

Overview

The Alberta Utilities Commission is currently reviewing an application from East Strathmore Solar Project Inc. to construct and operate the East Strathmore Solar Project, a 20.1-megawatt solar power plant approximately 12 kilometres east of Strathmore. The proposed project would be sited on approximately 120 acres of private, cultivated land in Wheatland County on a single quarter section of land located in the southwest quarter of Section 9, Township 24, Range 23, west of the Fourth Meridian.

East Strathmore Solar Project Inc. has also applied to interconnect the power plant to the FortisAlberta Inc. electric distribution system through a 700-metre underground distribution line.   

The AUC will be holding a hearing for the East Strathmore Solar Project on March 31, 2020 in the William Andrew Grieve Hearing Room in Calgary.

The AUC will also be holding an information session on February 19, 2020 in Strathmore to provide information about how you may become involved in this proceeding and the funding which may be available to you to support your position.
