Kneehill 2 Solar Generation Facility Project

Kneehill 2 Solar Generation Facility Project

Application for a 25-megawatt solar power plant in the Three Hills area

Overview

Kneehill Solar LP filed a letter on June 13, 2019, stating that it no longer intended to move forward with the Kneehill 2 Solar Generation Facility Project, and requested the application be rescinded. The Commission has accepted the request to withdraw the application and will proceed to close application, as indicated in Decision 24186-D01-2019.

The project would have consisted of a 25-megawatt power plant, including solar panels, inverters, an access road and a collector system connected to the Three Hills 770S Substation via a 25-kilovolt distribution line. The project was to be located approximately 2.5 kilometres north of Three Hills in the northwest quarter of Section 12, Township 32, Range 24, west of the Fourth Meridian, directly south of the approved Kneehill 1 Solar Generation Facility site. A notice of application was issued on January 24, 2019.

The AUC has cancelled a hearing scheduled in Calgary, Alberta, on August 13, 2019, to review the applications and submissions received, as indicated by the notice of hearing cancellation issued on June 18, 2019.
