Applications were submitted to the Alberta Utilities Commission to consider the ATCO Electric Rycroft Substation Expansion Project. ATCO Electric Ltd. is seeking approval to alter and operate the Rycroft 730S Substation, south of the Village of Rycroft. ATCO Electric Ltd. is proposing the addition of two 144-kilovolt circuit breakers and a dynamic reactive power support system. ATCO Electric Ltd. is also proposing to construct a new access road from the northwest of the substation site, and to expand the substation’s fenced area by 96 metres south and 69 metres west to accommodate the additions.
ATCO Electric Ltd. applied to alter Transmission Line 7L10 by dismantling and terminating a short segment of transmission line from the current tie-in within the existing substation to a location in the expanded substation area.

The AUC issued a notice of application for the Rycroft Substation Expansion Project on December 20, 2019.
