Stirling Wind Project Ltd.'s application to construct and operate the Stirling Wind Power Project in the County of Warner No. 5 and Lethbridge County area has been approved with conditions by the Alberta Utilities Commission in Decision 22546-D01-2019, issued on April 26, 2019.
The project consists of 32 wind turbines, with a total generating capability of 115.2 megawatts. The construction of a collector substation, designated Red Coat 967S Substation, and an interconnection with the Alberta Interconnected Electric System is also being proposed within this application.
Additionally, a separate application for a new transmission line in the Stirling area to connect the proposed Sterling Wind Project to the Alberta Interconnected Electric System was submitted to the AUC for consideration. Due to similar concerns raised by interveners, the application for the transmission line is also being addressed as part of Proceeding 22546.
The AUC issued a notice of amendment for the Stirling Wind Project on June 12, 2018. The notice contains further details and an updated map with the proposed turbine locations.
The AUC also issued a notice of rescheduled hearing for the project on October 12, 2018.
