The Alberta Utilities Commission is currently considering a project from Suncor Energy Inc. to construct and operate a 403.2-megawatt wind power plant in the County of Forty Mile No. 8. If you feel you may be affected by applications submitted by Suncor for a wind power plant and associated collector system and substation, you can provide input by filing a submission with the AUC to review before it makes its decision.
The Alberta Utilities Commission is currently reviewing the applications and submissions received which can be accessed through the eFiling System and going to Proceeding 23030. A notice of application was issued on October 25, 2017 asking those that wish to participate in the proceeding to provide their submissions. The applicant filed an amended application on August 23, 2018.
The project consists of a 403.2-megawatt wind farm, underground collector system and two collector substations. The applicant has identified 96 turbine locations. Each wind turbine will have a hub height of 105 metres, a maximum rotor diameter of 150 metres and a rating of 4.2 megawatts. The project is located approximately 13 kilometres southeast of the town of Bow Island.
Suncor has provided more details on the proposed project, including maps, on its website: Suncor Forty Mile Wind Power Project.
