Windrise Wind Power Project

Windrise Wind Power Project

The Alberta Utilities Commission is currently considering an application for a 206.4-megawatt wind power project in the Fort Macleod area

The Alberta Utilities Commission approved applications from TransAlta Corporation, through its wholly owned subsidiary Windrise Wind LP, under its general partner Windrise Wind Energy Inc. for the Windrise Wind Power Project to construct 43 turbines with a total generating capability of 206.4 megawatts. The project will also consist of an underground collector system, a meteorological tower, access roads and other associated components. Each turbine will be approximately 90 metres high, with a rotor diameter of 145 meters, and would have a maximum generating capability of 4.8 megawatts.

The AUC issued a notice of application which includes the project updates for the Windrise Wind Power Project project on July 16, 2019.

The project will be located in the Municipal District of Willow Creek, approximately 29 kilometres south of Fort Macleod, within Township 6 and ranges 26 and 27, west of the Fourth Meridian.
