Electronic Filing & Regulatory Document Search Services
The Alberta Utilities Commission leverages technology and information systems in conducting its regulatory mandate.

The Electronic Filing (E-Filing) system provides three services for all participants interested in the application, proceeding and regulatory policy processes:

1. Digital Data Submission (DDS),
2. Applications Search, and
3. Proceeding Search.

The E-Filing User Guide provides detailed instructions on the use of the E-Filing system; the E-Filing Attachment Guide describes the attachment descriptions, access protection and types.

1. Digital Data Submission (DDS)

DDS is an electronic gateway that keeps online access simple for our customers. It provides security through user authentication and authorization and presents a single portal to conduct on-line transactions with the AUC. The DDS service is used by:

  • applicants to file an application and submit proceeding documents;
  • interveners to participate in a proceeding by registering and providing submissions for  proceedings; and
  • interested parties to log rule issues.
  • To utilize DDS, parties are required to obtain a DDS User ID. Requirements for account set-up are outlined in the DDS User Guide. Obtaining a Business Associate Identifier (BA ID) is a prerequisite to obtaining a DDS User ID. An application for a BA ID can be made to the Petroleum Registry of Alberta. Any questions with respect to DDS may be directed by e-mail to systemservices@auc.ab.ca or by telephone at 780-643-1055. For Toll Free Access to any AUC contact, anywhere in Alberta, please dial the Rightline at 310-0000 and enter the 10 digit number to be connected.

    2. Applications Search

    Applications Search is a public web-based service utilized by interested parties to check on the status and access/download documents associated with AUC applications. All applications registered with the AUC can be accessed through this service. Application attachments and disposition documents are available for 30 days after the application disposition issued date.

    Applications Search includes utility application data back to 1974 from the AUC’s predecessor organizations (Public Utilities Board, Energy Resources Conservation Board and Alberta Energy & Utilities Board).

    3. Proceeding Search

    Proceeding Search is a web-based service that the public can use to view details about AUC proceedings, including registered participants and schedules. Only applications that require a written proceeding or oral hearing are included on Proceeding Search. Users can view and download submissions related to the application and proceeding from this site. Documentation for active proceedings will be available for 120 days after all applications on a proceeding have been disposed of by the Commission.

    Proceeding Search includes data on proceedings started from June 2007 to date. The AUC Electronic Filing Brochure provides a brief overview of our E-Filing system and how to access applications and submissions.
