Area Pincher Creek Area
Description

Need approval for the following system developments in the Pincher Creek area:

  • Construction of a new 240/138-kV Fidler 312S substation.
  • Re-configuration of an existing 138-kV transmission line 893AL and rebuilding it with larger conductors (Fidler NID).

In the first phase, the new Fidler 312S substation would be connected to Goose Lake 103S substation with a 240-kV double-circuit transmission line. Phase two of the development would include the additional work that would be required to commission a 240-kV double-circuit transmission line from the proposed Fidler 312S substation to the planned Chapel Rock 491S substation.

Approval to:

  • Construct and operate a new substation designated as Fidler 312S consisting of three 240-kV circuit breakers, two 138-kV circuit breakers, and one 240/138-kV 400-megavolt ampere transformer, at the preferred location LSD 1, Section 23, Township 7, Range 29, west of the Fourth Meridian, or at the alternate location LSD 14, Section 22, Township 7, Range 29, west of the Fourth Meridian.
  • Construct and operate approximately 11 to 13 km (depending on the route option) of new double-circuit 240-kV transmission line 994L/1071L from proposed Fidler 312S substation to existing Goose Lake 103S substation.
  • Salvage existing 138-kV transmission line 893AL from structure STR 893AL32 to existing Summerview 354S substation.
  • Construct and operate a new 138-kV transmission line 893L from proposed Fidler 312S substation to existing structure STR 893AL32.
  • Construct and operate a new 138-kV transmission line 624L from proposed Fidler 312S substation to existing Summerview 354S substation.

  • Alter existing Goose Lake 103S substation to install five new 240-kV circuit breakers.
  • Interconnect the new above-mentioned facilities to the Alberta Interconnected Electric System.
