Under the current Code of Conduct Regulations a distributor is obligated to release historic usage information to a market participant provided the market participant obtained consent from the customer. To automate the historic usage request process, the AUC established a consultative process to develop historic usage procedures that defined the necessary business rules and processes to enable the exchange of historic usage information between AUC-regulated electric and natural gas distribution companies and market participants. This effort resulted in the development of the Directive entitled Standards for Requesting and Exchanging Site-Specific Historic Usage Information for Retail Electricity and Natural Gas Markets. Following the final release of the Directive, now an AUC Rule, entities under the AUC's jurisdiction carrying out the functions of an owner of an electric or natural gas distribution system will be required to provide historic usage information to qualified market participants in a standardized format according to requirements of the Rule.
