Rule 027 - Specified Penalties for Reliability Standards 
 

The Alberta Utilities Commission (the AUC) has authority to make rules regarding Specified Penalties. Specified Penalties are penalties that are imposed by the Market Surveillance Administrator (MSA) if the MSA is satisfied that a person has contravened a reliability standard.

The AUC may prescribe the form and content of notices of specified penalties, the amounts of specified penalty (up to $100,000 per day) and the limitation periods for giving notice of specified penalties.

In consultation with market participants and interested parties, the AUC has developed AUC Rule 027 - Specified Penalties for Contravention of Reliability Standards.

October 2010

The AUC released Bulletin 2010-27, approving AUC Rule 027, Specified Penalties for Contravention of Reliability Standards and provided responses to stakeholder feedback in the matrix of stakeholder comments.

August 2010

The AUC received stakeholder comments to Bulletin 2010-21 regarding proposed AUC Rule 027, Specified Penalties for Contravention of Reliability Standards.

July 2010

The AUC released Bulletin 2010-21, inviting a second round of comments and feedback from market participants and interested parties regarding proposed AUC Rule 027, Specified Penalties for Contravention of Reliability Standards. Also attached to the bulletin are the AUC responses to the first round of stakeholder comments.

March 2010

The AUC approved amendments to AUC Rule 019, Specified Penalties for Contravention of ISO Rules and provided responses to stakeholder feedback in the matrix of stakeholder comments.

The AUC received stakeholder comments to Bulletin 2010-06 regarding proposed AUC Rule 027, Specified Penalties for Contravention of Reliability Standards.

January 2010

The AUC released Bulletin 2010-06, inviting comments and feedback from market particpants and interested parties regarding proposed AUC Rule 027, Specified Penalties for Contravention of Reliability Standards.
