The Alberta Utilities Commission has approved an application for a 26.5-megawatt solar power plant in the Brooks area


The Alberta Utilities Commission has approved the Brooks Solar II Power Plant project in Decision 24573-D01-2020. Elemental Energy Renewables Inc. has been approved construct and operate the 26.5-megawatt solar power plant that will be located on approximately 88 hectares of privately owned agricultural land, northwest and southeast quarters of Section 3, Township 19, Range 14, west of the Fourth Meridian, adjacent to the existing Brooks Solar I Power Plant. The AUC held a hearing to review the applications and submissions received on December 3 and 4, 2019, in Brooks, Alberta. A notice of application for the Brooks Solar II Power Plant project was issued on June 27, 2019.

The will also connect to the FortisAlberta Inc. 25-kilovolt distribution system.
