Overview
The Alberta Utilities Commission is currently considering applications from Irma
Wind Limited Partnership the for Irma Wind Power Project to build
and operate a 92.4-megawatt (MW) wind power project located in the Municipal
District of Wainwright. The
Commission issued a notice of application for the project on July 4, 2017;
however, amendments to the applications were received by the Commission on
March 29, 2019, and an amended notice of application was issued on April 25, 2019.
The project would consist of 22
turbines out of a possible 24 turbines (i.e. two alternate turbine locations
have been proposed) and each would use a 4.2-MW turbine with a hub height of 129 metres and a
rotor diameter of 141 metres. The potential turbine locations are shown in the attached
map. The project would also consist of a collector substation and a
34.5-kilovolt primarily underground collector system. The
project area covers the following sections:
Sections | Township | Range | Meridian |
32 | 46 | 9 | W4M |
4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 16, 17, 18, 19 | 47 | 9 | W4M |
