Overview
The Alberta Utilities Commission has approved Kneehill Solar LP's application to construct and operate a 25-megawatt solar power plant called the Michichi Solar Generation Facility approximately one kilometre northwest of the town of Drumheller. The AUC issued Decision 24363-D01-2019 for the project on September 12, 2019.
The Alberta Utilities Commission had cancelled the oral hearing for Proceeding 24363, which was scheduled to commence on August 27, 2019, in Calgary. The AUC issued a notice of hearing cancellation on August 13, 2019. The oral hearing had been cancelled because the only participant opposing the application withdrew their statement of intent to participate and their objection to the application.
The Michichi Solar Generation Facility will be located on approximately 320 acres of privately owned agricultural land, consisting of a 25-megawatt power plant, including solar panels, inverters, an access road and a collector system connected to the Michichi Creek 802S Substation via a 25-kilovolt distribution line.
