Overview
In FortisAlberta’s 2022 Phase II distribution tariff application
(Proceeding 25916), Fortis proposed to continue extending Option M, a type of
DCG credit. The Alberta Utilities Commission established Proceeding 26090 (the
current proceeding) as a module of 25916 to consider whether
distribution-connected generation (DCG) credits should continue to be included
in a distribution utility’s tariff.
Currently, FortisAlberta Inc., ATCO Electric Ltd. and ENMAX Power Corporation all offer DCG credit mechanisms in their respective tariffs. In view of setting an efficient regulatory agenda, the Commission will be deciding on this matter for all distribution tariffs in this proceeding as an independent module of Proceeding 25916, Fortis’s 2022 Phase II distribution tariff application. At this time, the Commission expects that its determinations in this proceeding (the DCG Credit Module for Fortis’s 2022 Phase II distribution tariff application) will affect ATCO Electric, ENMAX, and Fortis, as well as their customers, and the owners and operators of DCG units that receive benefit from DCG credit mechanisms set out in each of those utilities’ distribution tariffs. Other distribution utilities and their customers (or members) may have an interest as well. Interested parties should refer to Exhibit 26090-X0005 for the scope and process schedule of this modular proceeding.
