The Alberta Utilities Commission, the independent utilities regulator, will be considering a project need application in Proceeding 29318.
ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. filed a project need application with the Commission on September 17, 2024, requesting approval of the need for a new pipeline project called the Yellowhead Mainline Project. The project would consist of approximately 226 kilometres of new 914-millimetre pipeline from the Peers, Alberta area into the Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta area.
ATCO has requested that the Commission assess the need for the project in this proceeding. ATCO proposed that, if the need for the project is approved in this proceeding, it will file a separate application at a future date for approval to construct and operate the physical facilities.
The hearing is scheduled to begin on March 20, 2025, at 10 a.m.

The eFiling System should be accessed to view the applications and the other documents the AUC will be considering in this proceeding. The system is also used to file submissions and evidence to participate in the proceeding.
