Overview

AltaLink has applied to rebuild approximately 62 kilometres of the 138-kilovolt Transmission Line 799L between its Sagitawah 77S Substation, located near the town of Whitecourt, and its Entwistle 235S Substation, located near the town of Entwistle. The application has been filed under the Hydro and Electric Energy Act.

AltaLink has proposed to rebuild the transmission line primarily along the existing alignment and proposed an alternate route for one segment of the transmission line.

A map of the proposed routes is provided at the end of this notice. The Commission may approve either of the proposed routes.

Participant information session

The AUC will be holding a virtual information session to provide information about how you may become involved in this proceeding and the funding which may be available to you to support your position, which includes costs for legal representation and expert witnesses. The virtual information session is scheduled for August 21, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The project and its merits will not be discussed at this session. Hearing Information

The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC), the independent utilities regulator will be holding a hearing to review the application to rebuild the transmission line in proceeding 28957. A notice of hearing was issued on July 29, 2024. The hearing will begin December 3, 2024.
