Overview

On July 14, 2023, the AUC issued the following decision.

Pursuant to sections 11 and 19 of the Hydro and Electric Energy Act, the Commission approved the application in Decision 27652-D01-2023,1 and granted an approval to CSI to construct and operate the power plant, subject to the provisions of the Hydro and Electric Energy Act and the Alberta Utilities Commission Act, any regulations made under the acts, any orders made under the acts, the Commission rules made pursuant to the Alberta Utilities Commission Act, and the following terms and conditions:

  1. The power plant shall be located in the northwest quarter of Section 24, Township 49,
    Range 27, west of the Fourth Meridian, as further described in the application.
  2. The power plant shall consist of approximately 46,342 Trina Solar TSM-DEG19C20 solar
    modules, on a 35-degree fixed-tilt racking system, and four SMA 4600-UP inverters, with a
    total generating capability of 18.4 megawatts, and as further described in the application.
  3. The approval is subject to the following conditions, which have been described in the
    decision.

The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC), the independent utilities regulator, held a hearing to review the application and submissions received to consider the solar power plant development application in Proceeding 27652. The AUC issued a notice of hearing on December 14, 2022.

Creekside Solar Inc. has applied to construct and operate an 18.4-megawatt solar power plant called the Creekside Solar Project. The power plant would consist of approximately 46,342 solar photovoltaic panels and be located approximately one kilometer south of the town of Calmar. Specifically, the project would be located in the northwest quarter of Section 24, Township 49, Range 27, west of the Fourth Meridian.

Hearing Information

The AUC will be holding a hearing to review the applications and submissions received to consider the solar power plant development applications in Proceeding 27652. The hearing date is April 10, 2023.
