Westbridge Renewable Energy Corporation has applied to construct and operate a 300-megawatt solar power plant under the project specific entity Dolcy Solar Inc. Associated with this project is Dolcy 1148S Substation and battery energy storage system, designated as the Dolcy Solar + Energy Storage Project. The applications have been filed under the Hydro and Electric Energy Act.
The Dolcy Solar + Energy Storage Project would be located in the Municipal District of Wainwright, Alberta, approximately 20 kilometres north of the hamlet of Metiskow and 20 kilometres southwest of Edgerton. Specifically, the project would be located within Township 41, ranges 4 and 5, west of the Fourth Meridian. The associated Dolcy 1148S Substation and the battery energy storage system would be located in the southeast quarter of Section 36, Township 41, Range 5, west of the Fourth Meridian.

The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC), the independent utilities regulator, will be considering the power plant, substation and battery energy storage system development applications in Proceeding 28723 and will be holding a hearing beginning on June 10, 2024 through June 14, 2024.
