Overview

The AUC has approved the power plant, substation and energy storage facility development applications in Proceeding 29226.

Fox Meadows Wind Inc. applied to construct and operate a wind power plant and associated Spalding 1059S Substation and energy storage facility. The applications were filed under the Hydro and Electric Energy Act. The power plant will consist of 25 wind turbines, with a total generating capability of 165 megawatts. The project turbines will have a hub height of 115 metres and a rotor diameter of 162 metres. The power plant will also include an underground collector system, which will be used for collecting the electric energy generated by each turbine and transmitting the electric energy to the proposed Spalding 1059S Substation.

The project is located in the Municipal District of Wainwright No. 61 and Municipal District of Provost No. 52, approximately 17 kilometres south of the village of Edgerton and approximately 20 kilometres north of the town of Provost. Specifically, the project will be located within townships 41 and 42, ranges 3 and 4, west of Fourth Meridian.

The Spalding 1059S Substation and energy storage facility will be located in the southeast quarter of Section 2, Township 42, Range 4, west of the Fourth Meridian.
