The City of Medicine Hat has filed applications for a substation project in the southwest area of Medicine Hat

The Alberta Utilities Commission is reviewing applications from the City of Medicine Hat for approval to construct a new substation and modify an existing transmission line to connect to the substation in the southwest area of the city of Medicine Hat to meet growing electrical needs of the area. The AUC issued a notice of hearing on June 29, 2022.
The AUC will be holding a hearing to review the applications and submissions received to consider the electric transmission development applications. Further information about the hearing will be announced through the AUC’s eFiling System and website in mid-September.
The map below identifies the applied-for routes by the City of Medicine Hat, which includes a preferred route and an alternate route, both of which will be considered in this proceeding. The AUC may approve the preferred route or the alternate route.
The AUC holds information sessions to provide information about how to have your say and become involved in its proceedings. The AUC is prepared to provide a telephone or virtual session about options for participating in this proceeding and the local intervener funding that may be available to you to support your participation, if requested by individuals or groups interested in the proceeding.

If you intend to present evidence at the hearing, you must submit your written evidence by October 28, 2022 and be present at the commencement of the hearing.
