Overview

The Alberta Utilities Commission is reviewing applications from the City of Medicine Hat for approval to construct a new substation and modify an existing transmission line to connect to the substation in the southwest area of the city of Medicine Hat to meet growing electrical needs of the area. 

The AUC held a hearing to review the applications and submissions received to consider the electric transmission development applications starting on March 13, 2023. 

The map below identifies the applied-for routes by the City of Medicine Hat, which includes a preferred route and an alternate route, both of which will be considered in this proceeding. The AUC may approve the preferred route or the alternate route.
