Overview

Acestes Power ULC applied to construct and operate a 23.2-megawatt solar power plant, designated as the Ponoka Solar Project, and to connect the power plant to the FortisAlberta Inc. distribution system, under the Hydro and Electric Energy Act. The project would have been located on the northwest quarter of Section 22, Township 43, Range 25, west of Fourth Meridian, on approximately 161 acres of privately owned, cultivated land, approximately three kilometres northeast of the town of Ponoka. The project area is shown in the map below.

On May 28, 2024, the Alberta Utilities Commission placed this proceeding into abeyance and on February 4, 2025, Acestes Power withdrew their applications.
