Overview

Sounding Creek Solar Energy Park GP Ltd., wholly owned by EDP Renewables Canada Ltd., has applied for approval to construct and operate a 200-megawatt (MW) solar power plant, a 50-MW/200-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system and a project substation, designated as the as the Sounding Creek Solar Energy Park. The applications were made under the Hydro and Electric Energy Act. Sounding Creek Solar Energy Park GP Ltd. also applied to connect the project to the ATCO Electric Ltd. transmission system, however, it noted that the facility application required for the connection would be the subject of a future application to the AUC.

The project would be located on private lands within Special Areas no. 4, approximately seven kilometres north of the community of Sedalia. The project area is shown in the map included with this notice. The project area includes the following locations:
