The Alberta Utilities Commission the independent utilities regulator, will be considering the power plant and the substation development applications in Proceeding 29819. A notice of application for this proceeding was issued on March 5, 2025.
UK Solar West Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Universal Kraft Canada Renewables Ltd., has applied for approval to construct and operate a 162-megawatt solar power plant and associated substation, designated as the Oyen 2 Solar Project.
The project would be sited on approximately 959 acres of privately owned cultivated land, approximately 14.5 kilometres northwest of the town of Oyen. The project area is shown in the map included with this notice. The project would cover the following locations:
