Overview

The AUC will be considering the power plant development application in Proceeding 30261.

Greenlight Electricity Centre GP Ltd. has applied to construct and operate an 1,864-megawatt (MW) combined-cycle power generation facility. The project is proposed to be located in the Alberta Industrial Heartland on 98 hectares of private land, approximately 8.5 kilometres east of Gibbons, Alberta. Specifically, the project would be located in the east half of Section 10, Township 56, Range 22, west of the Fourth Meridian. The project is proposed to be developed in two stages and anticipated to be fully developed and operational in 2031. The application has been filed under the Hydro and Electric Energy Act.

The Commission has not determined the type of hearing or the full schedule at this time. The Commission will communicate the details of the hearing at a later date.
