The AUC is considering the power plant development application in Proceeding 30524.
The project is proposed to be located approximately three kilometres east of the City of Calgary, and two kilometres northwest of the Hamlet of Indus, in Rocky View County, Alberta. Specifically, the project would be located in Section 11, Township 23, Range 28, west of the Fourth Meridian.
The total capability of the project would be 1,494 megawatts, and under normal operating scenarios, would supply approximately 1,200 megawatts of power to co-located, on-site data halls, intended to contain artificial-intelligence and high-performing-computing facilities.
The application has been filed under the Hydro and Electric Energy Act.
The AUC will be holding an oral hearing to review the application and submissions received to consider the power plant development application in Proceeding 30524. The hearing will commence on August 18, 2026, at 9 a.m.
