Overview

The AUC has denied the power plant development applications in Proceeding 30032.

Gransolar Alberta One, Inc. applied to construct and operate the Blue Heron Solar Project. The project would consist of a 200-megawatt (MW) solar power plant with approximately 415,000 solar photovoltaic modules installed on a single-axis tracking system, a 200-MW/400-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system, and a project substation. The project would also include inverters, an electrical collection system and internal access roads. The project would be located on approximately 430.8 hectares of private cultivated land in Flagstaff County, approximately 11.5 kilometres east of the village of Alliance, as shown in the map below. The applications have been filed under the Hydro and Electric Energy Act.
