Overview

The Alberta Utilities Commission is reviewing applications from Buffalo Plains Wind Farm Inc. for approval to construct and operate a new approximately 15.5-kilometre, 240-kilovolt transmission line to connect the approved Buffalo Plains Wind Farm to the Alberta Interconnected Electric System, through Buffalo Plains Wind Farm Inc.’s approved Amber 611S Substation. The AUC issued a notice of application on March 1, 2022.

AltaLink Management Ltd. has applied for approval to connect the existing Milo 256S Substation to the proposed Transmission Line 1097L and alter both Milo 256S Substation and existing Transmission Line 1036L to accommodate this proposed connection.

The map below identifies the applied-for routes by Buffalo Plains Wind Farm Inc., which include a preferred route and an alternate route, both of which will be considered in this proceeding. The AUC may approve the preferred route or the alternate route.
